Winter Solstice Yoga And Breath Workshop
5-7.30PM Saturday 21 June.
Celebrate the transitional energy of the Winter Solstice with an evening of Hatha Yoga and trauma informed conscious connected breathing. Join us to experience how the macrocosmic body of the universe relates to the microcosmic body of the individual through the seasonal element of FIRE.
On June 21 we celebrate the shortest day of the year as a shift from darkness to light. Transitions are an inevitable part of these very human lives that we lead. The Winter Solstice is a moment of transition for the natural world that is mirrored in ourselves.
In days gone by the ancients would celebrate this with full force, with energy, with fire, dancing and feasting. This was to shift anything stagnant that had accumulated with the dark cold weather and to encourage everything back into balance.
This 2.5hr workshop is designed to tap into the energy of the moment, the energy of rebirth and renewal, the energy of transformation. Rebecca will take you through some warming and grounding Hatha Yoga based on the principles of Shadow Yoga that she has been teaching and studying for decades. Sarah will then lead you through a full session of conscious connected breathing that will leave you deeply nourished, relaxed and restored.
If you’ve been feeling dark let us bring some light into your life through community connection and care. When we move and breathe together we create subtle connections with each other and the divine.
The Qualities Of Fire - to know an element is to know its qualities. Fire is warm, passionate, energetic, transformative, light and strong. It can be observed in nature as an upside down triangle, the colour red and energy moving up. It resides in the body in the shoulders and the Manipura Chakra. Its organ of perception is the eyes and organ of action the feet. It is form without substance. It is important to take in the qualities of fire when you are feeling sluggish, depressed, weak, undernourished, disconnected or lacking focus and resolve. Through the combination of both Hatha Yoga and conscious connected breathing you will get to know the qualities of fire through the vessel of your body.
